We're two musicians and tech guys

Sonora.Chat was born from a simple frustration: as independent musicians ourselves, we watched the streaming economy turn into a pay-to-play machine where viral hits, fake streams, and label money drown out real creativity. Artists pay to upload, pay to promote, and still barely get heard.

We wanted to add a small grain of sand to shift that balance. A space where activity matters more than popularity, where artists don't have to pay to be heard, and where fans can directly support the music they love — no intermediaries, no algorithms driven by labels, no AI-generated noise.

We're not here to replace the big platforms. We're here to offer an alternative corner for those who believe music should come from human expression, not machine prompts, and that a dedicated fan is worth more than a million bot streams.

Activity over popularity

An artist's consistent work — new releases, engagement, genuine connection — matters more than viral hits or follower counts. We reward the doers, not the algorithms.

Zero cost to publish or be heard

Artists should never have to pay to upload their music or to get their first listeners. The platform is free. Period.

Direct fan support, no middlemen

Fans can support artists directly via Ko‑fi, Buy Me a Coffee — no platform commission, no hidden fees. What fans give, artists receive.

Fans are the true promoters

Promotion and visibility lie in the hands of the fans. If they believe in an artist, they can "Hype" them to improve search ranking. Community-driven discovery.

No AI-generated music

We don't accept AI‑composed or AI‑generated music. Sonora is for human expression, human creativity, human emotion. If you're an AI music farm, this is not your place.

Respectful of label contracts, not beholden to them

We are not controlled by major labels. But if an artist already has a contract with a label, we fully respect that agreement — the artist must ensure their uploads comply with their existing deals.

Bots don't matter here

We don't accept bots, fake streams, or paid plays. We don't care how many Instagram followers you have. In Sonora, you earn visibility through real fan activity, not artificial numbers.

Community-funded, not VC-funded

We accept donations via Ko‑fi to keep the servers running. No investors pushing for growth-at-all-costs. Just musicians and listeners keeping the lights on.
