Terms of Service

Sonora.Chat – hybrid music platform & search engine
Effective: March 16, 2026

1. Definitions & service nature

Sonora.Chat (operated by Stream Servers Ltd , UK) is a hybrid music aggregation platform and search engine. Our core function is to let users search for music. Search results come from two distinct sources:

  • YouTube API results – displayed first, include YouTube’s own ads and are subject to YouTube’s terms. Sonora.Chat does not modify or monetise those ads. For more information, please review our YouTube API Disclosure and Privacy Policy.
  • Verified Artist results (Sonora community) – content uploaded by independent artists who registered and passed our verification.

No user accounts: Listeners can use the search without signing up. Only artists need to register to appear in the verified section.

2. Artist terms & registration

Artists who want their music to appear as “Verified Artist” must complete the registration process and digitally sign the Artist Distribution Agreement (the contract provided during signup).

  • Verification: hybrid AI + manual review to prevent fraud.
  • Rights declaration: by registering, artist warrants full ownership of all uploaded content and declares they are not a member of a mandatory CMO (e.g. SGAE, GEMA, SACEM) — or if member of a flexible CMO, the specific work is not registered with that society or has obtained written permission from the CMO to license the music non-exclusively to Sonora.Chat .
  • Non‑exclusive licence: artist grants Sonora.Chat a worldwide, non‑exclusive licence to host, stream and distribute the music via Sonora.Chat .
  • Artist space: upon first login, a dedicated folder /artists/[slug] is created with a public profile page.

4. Rights ownership and collective management organizations

The artist declare he is the sole owner of the rights to the musical works submitted to Sonora.Chat , or that I have obtained all necessary permissions from the relevant rights holders to license such works.

The Artist represents and warrants that the submission of these works to Sonora.Chat does not conflict with any agreements with collective management organizations (CMOs), publishers, labels, or other third parties.

If the Artist is a member of a Collective Management Organization, the Artist confirms that either:

  • the submitted works are not registered with that organization, or
  • the Artist retains the right to license those works independently, or
  • the Artist has obtained the necessary authorization from the relevant organization.

The Artist accepts full legal responsibility for the accuracy of these declarations and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Sonora.Chat , its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from false or inaccurate statements regarding rights ownership or collective management restrictions.

5. Platform services and business model

Sonora.Chat operates the following business model:

  • Hybrid Content Platform: The platform aggregates content via YouTube API alongside independently uploaded artist content.
  • Non-Exclusive License: The Artist grants Sonora.Chat a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, stream, and distribute submitted musical works.
  • Revenue Model: YouTube retains its own advertising and licensing agreements. Sonora.Chat may offer additional monetization features subject to separate terms.
  • Content Moderation: Sonora.Chat reserves the right to remove content that violates this agreement, applicable laws, or platform policies.
  • Data Processing: The Artist consents to the processing of personal data as described in the Sonora.Chat Privacy Policy.

6. Representations and warranties

The Artist represents and warrants that: (a) they have the full legal capacity to enter this agreement; (b) they own or control all necessary rights to the content submitted; (c) the content does not infringe any third-party rights including copyright, trademark, or personality rights; (d) they will maintain accurate CMO status information and promptly update Sonora.Chat of any changes; (e) they will not submit content that is defamatory, obscene, or illegal.

7. Term and termination

This agreement commences on the date of digital signature below and continues until terminated by either party. The Artist may terminate this agreement with 30 days written notice. Sonora.Chat may terminate immediately for breach of this agreement. Upon termination, Sonora.Chat will cease distribution of the Artist's content within a commercially reasonable timeframe.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sonora.Chat , its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption arising from the use of Sonora.Chat or the inability to use the platform services.

9. No warranty

Sonora.Chat is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Sonora.Chat makes no warranties or representations regarding the availability, reliability, or performance of the platform services.

10. Copyright policy and content removal

Sonora.Chat respects the intellectual property rights of others. If a copyright holder believes that content available on Sonora.Chat infringes their rights, they may submit a notice requesting removal of the allegedly infringing material.

Upon receiving a valid notice, Sonora.Chat reserves the right to remove or disable access to the content in question while the claim is reviewed. The Artist may be notified and may submit a counter-notification where permitted by applicable law.

Sonora.Chat shall not be held liable for content uploaded by users, provided that it acts expeditiously to remove or disable access to infringing material upon obtaining knowledge of such infringement.

11. Platform modifications

Sonora.Chat reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Sonora.Chat or its services at any time without prior notice.

12. Automated systems

Content discovery, recommendations, and search results on Sonora.Chat may be generated by automated systems. Sonora.Chat does not guarantee the accuracy, ranking, or visibility of any content within the platform.

13. Artist verification & space

Every approved artist receives a unique slug and a public page under https://Sonora.Chat /artist/<slug>. The page is automatically generated upon first login (based on artist.php template). Sonora may update the template, and the artist’s page will reflect the latest version. Artists must not use the space for illegal or unauthorised distribution.

14. Search result order

To provide clarity, search results are not blended. Results from the YouTube API are shown in a first block. Verified artist results from the Sonora community appear in a subsequent block. This separation ensures users understand the source of the content. The order may evolve, but any change will preserve transparency.

15. Contact & governing law

Legal contact: legal@Sonora.Chat (also for abuse/DMCA).

Governing law: These terms are governed by the laws of UK, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights in the artist’s country of residence. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of UK.

Changes: We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this URL, with the effective date revised.

16. Hosting provider status

Sonora.Chat operates as a hosting service provider that stores and displays content submitted by artists and content retrieved from third-party platforms.

Sonora.Chat does not actively monitor, pre-screen, or control all content uploaded by users and does not assume ownership of such content.

All music, images, and other materials submitted to the platform are provided by the respective artists or third-party sources. Responsibility for the legality and ownership of such content remains solely with the submitting party.

Upon obtaining actual knowledge of alleged copyright infringement or unlawful content, Sonora.Chat will act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the material in question.

This provision is intended to comply with applicable safe harbor protections under intermediary liability laws, including but not limited to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and similar regulations.

17. Automated access restrictions
